I always wanted an old car of bike from 1939, the year I was born. My friend Jerry Turner had this Scout in pieces at his amazing junk yard in Fresno and agreed to let me put it together and use it as long as I wanted. He provided the missing parts and kept the title. I enjoyed riding it for a few years but finally gave it back when the space it took up became more important than the fun of riding it.
Bob, I hang out with the fellow who has your 1931 Buick Victoria, Dwayne Zajic, in Sacramento.
He encouraged me to look at your site.
You mentioned having something from the year your were born!
I have a deal for you.
A 1939 Buick Special Coupe that was bought by Ernest Bloch, classical music composer, when he fled the Nazis in 1939. I bought the car from his grand daughter almost 30 years ago.
I’m having the original engine done by Rick Gray in Elk Grove, Ca. When the engine is done, it’ll need everything else.
I’m 77 yeras old now, and I’m afraid I’ve run out of steam. But I feel the car is historically interesting enough to save.
In your opinion, is there any value, from a historic standpoint, for such a car?
I’d be interested in your thoughts!
